Cary Kim Hanlin passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Friday, September 9, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born June 16, 1949 in Granite, Oklahoma to Gene and Sue Hanlin.

Kim graduated from Littlefield High School in 1967, where he was a member of the football team and marching band. He was active in Boy Scouts for many years. Kim attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. He then returned to Littlefield and worked for General Telephone Company and later, Hanlin Auto Parts. He married Sheila Phillips of Littlefield on March 21, 1970. They established their home in Littlefield and raised three children. They were members of the Crescent Park Church of Christ. Kim was involved in all aspects of 4-H and enjoyed working with his children in livestock projects/shows. He also spent time coaching his children in their sports activities. Kim became a real estate broker and established Hanlin Real Estate with his wife Sheila. In 1983, Kim was employed by the Agricultural Soil Conservation Services, now known as Farm Service Agency and became County Executive Director of Bailey County. He retired in 2013. Kim's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was lovingly known as "Poppi" and "Grampa" by his grandchildren. He liked to read books and was an entrepreneur at heart. He had a dry wit and spoke fluent sarcasm, which endeared him to others.

Kim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sheila; their three children, Cary Hanlin and wife, Carrie of Littlefield, Ashley Hanlin of Littlefield and Morgan House and husband, Danny of Turkey, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kambri, Karson and Kennadi Hanlin; Gavin House and wife, Avery, Logan, Landri and Lyncoln House; and two sisters, Darla Reep of Lubbock and Dinah McCoy of Littlefield; and extended family members, Jimmy and Cindy Glover, Robert and Marsha Williamson, Rod and Donna Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Grace Chapel in Hillcrest Funeral Home with Rod Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Littlefield EMS. Arrangements were under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
